Colors in the Water
Ever seen a waterfall with special lights shining on the cascade to create the most beautiful color effect? Yeah, that's why I wanted to paint it.

Colors in the Water

I have my mom to credit for several of my pieces ever seeing the light of day. The reason for this is because she will often like a painting even when I don't really understand her choice of favorites. These two lucky paintings have garnered her special affection. I have to admit, they look really good when photographed. Both of these waterfalls are soon to be displayed in a new public setting, which I will announce right here on my website as soon as the display is finished and ready for public enjoyment.
The Experiment of Night. What a goofy name for a painting. I can say that, because I named this piece of work several years ago and I had completely forgotten the name until I looked at the back a couple weeks ago. Imagine the confusion when I read that title. This piece was really fun to paint I will admit. Difficult, but fun. Obviously, I love color and these colors swirl and dance along with the frothing water. The flowers and color filled plants grow close to the refreshing spray. The moon watches over the scene, giving off the perfect sense of a truly enchanting night. What could possibly give a more romantic ambiance?......
How about the second in the set? Bewitching Waters is a pretty accurate name, although still a little strange in my mind but, oh well. Momma so loved the first painting, and I thought it turned out well enough that I decided to try the same technique again. You really have to know how your paint is going to behave because it can go south really fast when trying to perfect this style. You also have to get your timing perfect otherwise it just won't look right. This version has just a splash more orange and red. The moon is brighter, the falls more spread out. Both paintings inspire in me sense of magic and wonder and possibly, mystery. I can see these waterfalls being in the garden of some royal's grand estate. Or even closer to home and my experiences, they would totally fit in a zoo or botanical garden.

You can see how these paintings might invoke a certain feeling or vibe. They are mysterious, and kind of romantic. I love painting places out of my imagination that I would love to visit sometime. Experiencing a waterfall, quiet or rushing, with an array of beautiful plants draping the sides, and all the colors of the bright shining moon dancing in the playful water. What is not to like about such a dream? This set will be bringing life and inspiring new dreams in the young hearts of studious teens as soon as I get the display up in a local hangout. Check back here for more details as I will announce the new location soon.
