A little introduction...

My name is Kylee Nicole, and I love to paint! I do other forms of art too, but painting is the main one. I work best with a wide range of colors and textures. Whether you like a more serene mountain landscape or stand in awe of a swirling, confused, mishmash of paint that might be an ocean, I probably have painted something you can enjoy. I hope today to introduce you to some of my work, while explaining the story and inspiration behind it.

Momma's Meadow is by far my most accomplished painting. Let me tell you a funny story about this painting. I actually don't like it, nor do I consider it to be fully complete. It is in reality the tossed aside, unfinished background of another painting. I discovered my plan was not going to work when constructing the layout for a gift, so I scrapped this canvas and reworked my ideas on another. This tossed aside painting has hung in the Capitol building in Washington D.C and has won first place awards on a couple different levels.

Rooster (painting) Kylee Nicole Smith

The infamous rooster painting. People love this thing, and I have to say I do too. This is what Momma's Meadow was supposed to become. I gave it as a gift to a special couple I know. Obviously, I got a little carried away with the background and had to simplify it to give the rooster all the glory he deserves.

This world can be full of dark and scary things. As an artist I have watched my peers create some of the most horrific artistic creations I have ever seen. pieces full of horror and gore and evil. An expression of how young folks feel today. I endeavor to be the complete opposite. Yes, I understand this world can be dark. Yes, I understand the light is hard to see at times. But I refuse to add to the darkness by creating art that is just the mirror image of it. Now, every once in a while, you will see at painting of mine and question these statements. However, if you look closely, you will almost always find a little ray of hope amidst the swirling blobs of black.
